The LiMo Foundation is a consortium of companies formed by manufacturers Motorola, NEC, Panasonic Mobile Communications, Samsung Electronics and operators NTT DoCoMo and Vodafone Group Services. His mission was, from its founding in January 2007, creating a platform that would allow the use of Linux on mobile devices.
On January 4 this year have released a statement announcing the launch of the first mobile Linux, as well as an API that enables application development for future devices using this system. The API is available in beta on their website.
It is anticipated that the first mobile Linux market go in March 2008.
