The majority parties in Spain (PP, PSOE, CiU and PNV) have decided that democracy must remain a universal law in our country, as now came to be. Dissatisfied with the prospect that people could still vote for whomever he chose, the major parties have decided to end pluralism, a right that the Spanish took it for granted. This is done by amending the Organic Law on the General Electoral System (LOREG) to be applied first in the next General Election.
The amendment to section 169.3 of the LOREG means that candidates must submit without parliamentary representation in each electoral endorsement of 0.1% of the census to be able to present to the general election, for which they have 20 days. This means that over 90% of matches that were presented in the previous general election of 2008 will have to devote most of their time and resources to meet a new condition imposed on the overnight parties that do have elected parliamentarians.
To convert this unjustifiable requirement in a real trap for alternative parties, the procedure for processing and validation of the guarantees has not been developed yet, and the Central Electoral Board has already said he will wait until September to resolve all issues raised this requirement. According to the final interpretation is made, may be the case in which to submit an application in the state involving an expenditure of over 300,000 Euros.
To what end obeys this requirement? Obviously, the first consequence of this new law will hinder the work, and even existence, of parties who have no parliamentary representation today. Will eliminate the possibility that a good part of the population get a democratic representation. Shall become final and untouchable the current system of "regional compensation bipartisanship." In short, the major parties have decided to become irreplaceable themselves in just as the citizens have taken to the streets to demand a real democracy, efficient and not corrupt.
For this reason, Pirates of Catalonia, with the collaboration of people and parties in favor of democratic pluralism, is launching "I Avalo" a space where all can help ensure that these elections are the least democratic and pluralistic the story.
Prior to the launch of this campaign the following parties have decided to join, on condition of founding members:
- Pirates of Catalunya: concur in the four provinces of Catalonia.
- Seats in White / Escons in Blanc across the state will attend.
- Party animals from Animal Abuse: concur in the state.
- Pirate Party: throughout the state will attend less Catalunya.
You can see a current list of candidates adhered to: http://www.yoavalo.org/participantes
Pirates of Catalonia launched its own set of underwriting data reception on Thursday, August 4: http://joavalo.pirata.cat/es. In just one week in the middle of August and without spending a single euro has managed to reach more than 13% of the guarantees necessary to perform in the four provinces of Catalonia. For this success we decided to invite all parties to respect human rights and democracy to freely participate in this campaign. I Avalo collects data on those people who want to endorse, so that different applications can contact them and thus maximize their potential.
Endorsing a candidate does not commit to anything else, and is an act of active struggle for democratic pluralism. If you wanted to vote for a party that does not require collateral, you can help other options can be presented without obligation, for decency, for democracy, for justice.
Also, this platform is a useful tool for anyone who wants to vote for a minority party, as it provides information on who may vote for candidates.
Partitocracy Enough, enough of fake democracy. Together we will reach further. United in diversity, for a true democracy.
